CAVALRY TAKE FIRST GAME AGAINST DAREDEVILS
LAWTON, OKLA.— After losing their first home game last week, the Cavs rebound in a 121–101 win over the Butte Daredevils, taking all seven quarter points.
Six Cavs players scored in 6 double digits. Daryan Selvy led the Cavs with 26 points. Curtis Haywood poured in 21 points, Marvin Phillips added 17, and Greg Plummer chipped in 16.
"This was a great game," Oklahoma Cavalry Head Coach Richardson said. "This was the first time we played well on both ends of the court, but we are still one or two guys away from where we want to be."
The Daredevils started the game with a 5-0 run, but with 4:24 left in the first quarter the Cavs took their first lead of the game.
Playing a more run-and-gun style game, the Cavs maintained their lead into halftime up 65–56.
Even though the Daredevils only had seven players, they didn't give up coming within nine points in the third quarter. However, the Cavs remained in control the rest of the game pulling out the win.
Six of the seven players for Butte scored in double-digits, led by Aaron Cook and Odell Bradley with 21 points each. Jibril Hodges contributed 20 points and Martane Freeman added 17 points. Benson Callier and Blake Sholberg chipped in 12 points and 10 points, respectively.
With the victory the Cavs are 9–9 on the season. They will meet again tomorrow night at the Great Plains Coliseum for the second game of the series.
